In the November 2008 Pitkin County election the voters authorized a tax increase of .5%, ? of 1%, to the county tax. This tax goes into effect January 1, 2009. For guests that arrive on or after January 1, the new sales tax is applicable, even if the booking was made online before January 1 - so the property will be happy to collect the difference at the front desk.
